But it is 110t found either in the Saptapadarthî or Hetukhandana of Sivaditya. As the verse treats of Mabávidya Syllogisms, it must have been taken by Vádîndra from some work of Sivaditya on Mahavidya Syllogismis.
Sivá ditya has been alluded to by Gangeshopadhyaya (A.D. 1178 ?) in his Tattva-chintamanil and by Janakinātha (A. D. 1400?) in his Nyayamanjari' without mentioning the name of his work.
Mahimahopadhyaya Gokulanathas (A. D. 1.588) of Mangroni in Maithila country quotes a verse from Sivaditya Misra's work in the following passage of his Pada-vákya-ratnákara to explain the difference between Višeshana and Upalakshana:-- विशेषे साक्षात्संसृष्टं विशेषणं, परंपरयोपलक्षणम् । यथाह शिवादित्यः
"व्यावर्तनीयमधितिष्ठति यद्धि साक्षा
देतद्विशेषणमतो विपरीतमन्यत् । दण्डी पुमानिति विशेषणमत्र दण्डः पुंसो न जातिरनुदण्डमसौ च तस्य ।।"
पदवाक्यरत्नाकरः पृ. ५१ (Shastra M. Edition 1904) This verse is not seen in any of the known works of siváditya Miśra. We must therefore infer that he must have written many works on logic. Let us hope that some of them may be discovered in future.
Short-notices of authors who have mentioned Mahavidya, Vádindra and his Mahavidya-Vidambana - ___1 चित्सुखाचार्य-It has already been mentioned that Chitsukhachirya has alluded to the Mahavidya syllogisms. He was a grent Vedantin and lived about A. D. 1200. His published works are (1) Tattvapradipiki (Chitsukhi) (2) A commentary on Anandabodhichārya's Nyayamakaranda. He has also written (3) a commentary on Sriharsha's Khandana which is not published'. His other works recently discovered and secured by Mr. S. Kuppusvámi
