________________ Shri Mahavir Jain Aradhana Kendra www.kobatirth.org Acharya Shri Kailassagarsuri Gyanmandir XXV writer on Mimánsá also. Perhaps his comnientar lokavártika fell in the back ground after the composition of the commentaries by Sucharitamishra. Párthasarathi Mishra and others. So far we have given an account of Vádîudra and his works and the authors mentioned by him and of the authors who have referred to him. We shall now turn to the authors of the two commentaries on Mahavidya-Vidambana, Commentator Anandpůrna—The author of the 1st commentary published with the text in this edition is Anandapůrņa. Only one incomplete Manuscript of it was furnished to me as copies of it appear to be extremely rare. The Manuscript consists only of a portion of the commentary on the first out of the three Parichhedas. Hence there are two gaps in the printed commentary of Anandapurņa viz, one from page 1 to 6 at the commencemeut and the other in the middle from page 26 to 45. Anandapurna's commentary appears to be rather brief when compared with that of Bhuvanasundara. No information about the time and place of Anandapurņa can be gathered from the fragment of his commentary on Mahavidya-vidambana published in this volume. Even the colophon at the end of the first Chapter does not give any particulars of the author except his name. But I think we can safely identify this Anandapûrņa with the Anandapůrna, author of the Vidyasagari commentary on Khandana. For the latter has quoted a Mahavidya syllogism in the Vidyasagari as stated before. Anandaparna was well-versed in the Nyaya and other Sástras as is evident from the profound scholarship shown by him in the Vidyasagari. As this commentary discloses that its author Anandapurņa was well-acquainted with Mahavidyá syllogisms, I think we can safely identify him with the Anandapârņa, author of the commentary on Mahávidya-vidambana. He has also written (3) a commentary on Sureshwaracháryas Bramhasiddhi* named भावशुद्धि. His other works are (4) टीकारत्न a commentary on the मोक्षधर्म of महाभारत, (5) पंचपादिकाटीका; (6) and a समन्वयसूत्र विवृति comment on पंचपादिका विवरण(?) Mr. S. Kuppusvami Sástri has lately obtained a copy of (7) his far, a work on the Vaisheshika system. One other unknown work of his is TECITUJETITES ter called =124cfare referred to by Nándillagopa in his commentary on Prabodha-chandrodaya Nátaka (p. 204 N. S. Ed.)- TafTe City A3 facerdtal 225771) 1 See the description of the Manuscript in the annexed list of Manuscripts. 2 The colohhon is as follows:-इति महाविद्याविडम्बनव्याख्याने श्रीमदानन्दपूणेविरचिते प्रथमः gwa: महाविद्यावि० पृ. ७५ 3 अयं गन्धो गन्धवत्तित्वरहितगन्धवन्मात्रवृत्त्यधिकरणं प्रमेयत्वात् धटवत् ।। खण्डनखण्डखाद्यटीका पृ. ११८२ (चौखम्बा) 4 My friend Mr. T. M. Tripathi informs me that Mr. Kuppuswami Shastri of Madras has secured a copy of this commentary, and there is another copy of it at the Royal Asiatic Society of Bengal, Calcutta.
