(5) the suhtū Kshetra, the land of barley,
There people take sattū (a preparation
of bazley meal) generally, (6) the rasā pulāka which 18 noted for milch
cows and the abundance of the supply
of milk and the products of milk; (7) the dhānya-pulāka, the land of wheat
and other kinds of cereals; (8) the yavāgū where people take yavāgū
(liquid foods, or paste-like khichrz*); (9) the handa-hsheta, wherei roots (potatoes
of various kinds and other vegetables
of the potato famıly) are grown; (10) the mūla, where are grown chiefly such
things as ginger, turmeric and other forms of pungent articles that grow
underground. The one rule in regard to the above places is this that light penance should be given in dry and hot places (like Maryad and Alalıya) where rich food is not obtained. In colder places where plenty of milk and ghee is eaten by the people serere tapa is permissible
3-FOOD-SUPPLY In fixing the penance it is also necessary to bear in mind the nature of the food the penitents
