22) The luminosity of Atman consists in the manifestation of all objects. Its luminosity is not like that of fire or any such thing, for (in spite of the presence of such lights), darkness prevails at night (at some place or other).
22) மற்ற பதார்த்தங்களை தெரியும்படி செய்வதே ஆத்மாவின் பிரகாசத்தன்மை தான். ஆனால், அந்தப் பிரகாசம் அக்னி முதலானவைகளின் பிரகாசம் போன்றதல்ல (அவைகளில்லாவிட்டால்) இரவில் (ராத்திரியில்) இருட்டு ஆகி விடுகிறது. (ஆத்மா எப்பொழுதும் இல்லையென்று ஆகாததினால், அதன் பிரகாசம் எப்பொழுதும் குன்றாது குறையாது, மங்காது).
देहोऽहमित्ययं मूढो मत्वा तिष्ठत्यहो जनः । ममायमित्यपि ज्ञात्वा घटद्रष्टेव ||33||
23) How strange is it that a person ignorantly rests contented with the idea that he is the body, while he knows it as something belonging to him (and therefore, apart/separate from him), even as a person who sees a pot (knows it as apart from him)!
23) குடத்தைப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றவன் போல் “இது என்னுடைய சரீரம் எப்பொழுதும் தெரிந்து கொண்டிருக்கும்போதே, இந்த மூடனான மனிதன் "நான் சரீரம்" என்று நினைத்துக் கொண்டு நிற்கின்றானே, என்ன ஆச்சரியம்!
