[आमुख ] or प्रस्तावना ( Prologue or prelude ) is thus lefined by Vis’vanatha: - 'नटी विदूषको वापि पारिपार्श्वक एव वा । सूत्रधारेण सहिताः संलापं यत्र कुर्वते ॥ चित्रैर्वाक्यैः स्वकार्योत्थैः प्रस्तुताक्षेपिभिर्मिथः । आमुखं तत्तु विज्ञेयं नाम्ना प्रस्तावनापि सा ॥' It is an introductory dialogue between the manager and one of the actors or actresses. It is of five kinds: - ' उद्धात्यकः कथोद्धातः प्रयोगातिशयस्तथा । प्रवर्तकावगलिते पञ्च प्रस्तावनाभिदाः ॥ . '
P. 11. L. 1. [ प्रावारहस्तः. ] प्रावारः हस्ते यस्य. 'गड्वादेः सप्तम्यन्तं परम्' इति हस्तपदस्य परभावः Maitreya enters the court with a mantle. “The scene is supposed to represent a street on one side, and on the other the first court of Chârudatta's house; the outside of the house is also seen in the part next the street." प्रावारः उत्तरीयवस्त्रम्.
