THE CONCLUDING REMARKS (MISCELLANEOUS) 93 first yoga-viewpoint ( who can only be a kula-yogin ) was said to be ... a possessor of all the four yamas ( unless icchädika there means not all
the four yamas but only the first two ) while in the verse 34 he was said to be a possessor of all the three unfailing circumstances'. After general introduction the verses of tbis section can be read as they stand. (a) A General Remark About the Character of the Present Text :
अनेकयोगशास्त्रेभ्यः संक्षेपेण समुद्धृतः । दृष्टिभेदेन योगोऽयमात्मानुस्मृतये परः ॥२०७॥ anekayogaśāstrebhyaḥ samkṣepena samuddhştah /
drsţibhedena yogo'yam ālmānusmộlaye paraḥ 1/207||
Out of numerous texts on yoga this chief yoga-- diversified according to the viewpoints adopted--bas been derived by me briefly and for the sake of refreshing my own memory. (b) The Four Types of Yogins :
कुलादियोगभेदेन चतुर्धा योगिनो यतः । अतः परोपकारोऽपि लेशतो न विरुध्यते ॥२०८॥ kuladiyogabhedena caturdḥā yogino yataḥ /
ataḥ paropakāro'pi leśato na virudhyale 1/208||
However since yogins are of four types viz. kula-yogins etc., it .. will not be improper even to expect that this (attempt of mine) will be of some help to others as well.
कुलप्रवृत्तचक्रा ये त एवास्याधिकारिणः । योगिनो न तु सर्वेऽपि तथाऽसिद्धयादिभावतः ॥२०९॥ kulaprav;llacakra ye ta evāsyādhikāriņaḥ /
yogino na tu sarve’pi tatha'siddhyādibhāvataḥ //209|| Among the yogins only those who belong to the types called kulayogins and pravsttacakra-yogins--and not all the (four) types of them - . are entitled to study this work of mine; for in the case of the remaining
types there are ( obstacles like ) under-qualification etc. (i. e. underqualification in the case of golrayogins, over-qualification in the case of niş panna-yogins ).
ये योगिनां कुले जातास्तद्धर्मानुगताश्च ये । कुलयोगिन उच्यन्ते गोत्रवन्तोऽपि नापरे ॥२१०॥ ye yogināṁ kule jālās taddharmānugałaś ca ye 'l . · kulayogina' uicyante gotravanto'pi näpare 1/210||
