Brahmagupta in 628 A. D., the Vişnudharmottara must have been compiled between 628 and 1000 A. D. Sect. III, too, is of a very miscellaneous character, treating of dancing, singing and music, sculpture and painting (the making of images of gods) and architecture (construction of temples).”
The Matsya-Purāna, the Padma-Purāna, the SkandaPurāņa and the Brahma-Purāna were also used for the (Śiva) Linga and (Vişņu) Sālāgrāma sections ; and passages from the Brhat-Samhitā, have been quoted verbatim, in the Adbhuta section
Another text, more sparingly consulted, is the Višvakarmaśāstra. This is certainly a Silpa work of the Northern School,
But the work most profusely drawn upon, often verbatim, is certainly the Rūpamandana?? This may be identical with the text of the same name23, the authorship of which is ascribed to Maņdana himself.
