For compiling a anekārthasaigraha dictio nary, Hemacandra covered the full literature related to double entendré which was not covered by any previous author. The contribution of Hemacandra may be evaluated in the words that he not only put the full word heritage but also the full cultural heritage of India together in his writings. It is difficult to understand the cultural history of India ignoring Hemacandra. The rare vocabulary in Indian writings may be traced in the collection of Hemacandra together with the vocabulary which had been lost from other works. His grammatical writings also consists of the new. grammar (Siddhahaimaśabdānušāsana) which makes prakrit, a public language, an integrated part of Sanskrit. His new grammar was evaluated as best grammar of the medieval ages by Kielhorn for not only its easiness in expression leaving all the technicalitics of procedure in Pānini but also incoporating all the systems of Sanskrit grammar both orthodox and heterodox put together Hemacandra made a complete compendium of not only the words known in his ages, as he was himself a compilor of a number of dictionaries but also used all the mature sources like the Mahābhā sya by Patañjali and incorporated all the Vārtikas of Katyāyana and Patañjali in his grammar in the form of Sūtras. He collected the words known in Candra Grammar and other Jain Grammars.
