________________ 21 tinantas in his poem Bhimabhatta in his Rāvanārjunīya sct a new tradition to illustrare all the adhikaranas of grammar in the same order although he could not completely fulfil it Hemacandra took a new cnterprisc to write his poem which consisted of not only complctc examples of his grammar but also illustrated the controversial illustrations in pa rticular. Another feature of Hemacandra's illustra tions are to illustrate counter-examples (pratyudāharana) which are totally missing in other poems. To explain the icdious and optional forms, Hemacandra illustiates a serics of cxamples also The cxamples creating a hurdle in the theme are rarcly omitted because Hemacandra is capable of moulding them in accordance with appropriate contexts The rules which require further explanations and classifications are explained through categorical examples scmetimes more than one. The commentator Abhayatılakagaņı tries to explain such cxamples fully?. Another regular paractice in the Dvyāśrayakā vya is the explanation of synonyms of the words and roots proposed to be expl ined Like synonyms long list of words and roots in the rules are fully illustrated irrespective of their length If the roots are used in a number of senses, all the meanings are regularly illustrated.
