अतएव न यो धर्तुं मूलोत्तरगुणानलम् । युक्ता सुश्राद्धता तस्य, न तु दम्भेन जीवनम् ॥१२॥
भावार्थ : इसलिए जो साधु मूलगुणों को धारण करने में असमर्थ है, उसे श्रावकव्रत ग्रहण कर लेना उचित है, लेकिन दम्भ से जीना उचित नहीं ॥१२॥ परिहर्तुं न यो लिङ्गमप्यलं दृढरागवान् । संविज्ञपाक्षिकः स स्यान्निर्दम्भः साधु-सेवकः ॥१३॥
भावार्थ : अगर कोई गाढ़ राग-(मोह) वश मुनिवेश का त्याग न कर सके तो उसे चाहिए कि दम्भरहित सुसाधु का सेवक होकर संविज्ञ-पक्षीय बन जाय ॥१३॥ निर्दम्भस्यावसन्नस्याप्यस्य शुद्धार्थभाषिणः । निर्जरां यतना दत्ते स्वल्पापि गुणरागिणः ॥१४॥
भावार्थ : कोई साधु चारित्र में शिथिल (मन्दक्रियावान्) हो, किन्तु दम्भरहित होकर शुद्ध अर्थ का निरूपण करता हो, तो उस गुणानुरागी मुनि की थोड़ी-सी यतना भी निर्जरा का काम करती है ॥१४॥ व्रतभारासहत्वं ये विदन्तोऽत्यात्मनः स्फुटम् । दम्भाद्यतित्वमाख्यान्ति तेषां नामापि पाप्मने ॥१५॥
