as soon as the printing of "addenda" given in this part takes place. It will take about a couple of years to publish it. Thereafter Part II of Vol. XVIII will be set in types.
On this Part II of Vol. XIX being issued, almost half the Jaina Catalogue will get published and the No. of works contained therein will come to 2485. Of them 1463 are included in Vol.XVII (Pts. 1-4), 305 in Vol. XVIII (Pt. 1) and 717 in Vol. XIX (Pts. 1-2).
There are a few Jaina works which are claimed as their own by both the sects of the Jainas viz. Svetambara and Digambara. They are:
(1) Tattvärthadhigamasutra.
(2) 'Praśnottararatnamala also named as Ratnamalika.
(3) Bhaktamarastotra,
(4) Kalyāṇamandirastotra.
We are here concerned with the last two works (hymns). Bhaktamarastotra consists of 44 verses according to the Svetambaras and 48 according to a good many Digambaras. In my humble opinion the additional four verses are spurious and not genuine, and the author is Svetambara. Even then as this hymn is furnished with commentaries by the Digambaras, too, I have dealt with this hymn in both the groups. The same procedure is adopted in the case of Kalyanamandirastotra as it, too, is commented upon by both the Svetambara and Digambara writers.
'Sama-Samskrta' Works- Sanskrit and Prakrit are the two classical languages of northern India. They are inter-related so much so that a number of words and a good many paradigms are common. This remark holds good in the case of six varieties of the Prakrit language, too. This feature has enabled some poets to
