BUSTĀN (A collection of didactic poems) Foll. 257; size 25 x 15 cm; paper; Nast'aliq script; Persian, dated A.D. 1538. Author: Shaikh Sadi (died A.D. 1291); scribe: Muhammad bin Ishaq Begins : حکیم سخن برزن آفریں پذیر و پرش کریم خطا بخش بنام خداوند جان آفریں خداوند بخشنده دستگیر 10 illustrations of the Mughal school; and seals of the Alwar State. The calligraphy of this manuscript is remarkably fine. Lent by the Government Museum, Alwar (Rajasthan). GULISTAN (A didactic composition) Foll. 156; size 21.5 x 13.5 cm; paper; Nast'aliq script; Persian; dated A.D. 1564. Author: Shaikh S'adi, scribe : Muhammad Bāqir. The fly-leaf has a pear-shaped Imperial seal of Shahjahan; the manuscript is written in a most exquisite hand and has decorated margins with rich floral and animal designs in gold. The manuscript is of great historical value inasmuch as it bears two inscriptions of Shahjahan. According to the one, he ordered deposit of the manuscript in his personal library as a volume of the first category, while the other shows that he presented it to his first son, Dārā 101 Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
