लोग थे। उनका असुन्दर चित्रण द्वेषवुद्धिवश आर्योने किया है। द्रविड लोगोकी भाषा सस्कृत न थी। वह भापा प्राकृत थी, जिसके द्वारा वे अपने धार्मिक साहित्यका प्रचार करते थे। यह तामिल नामक द्रविड भाषाके अधिक सन्निकट है। अत्यन्त प्राचीन तामिल साहित्य, विशेषत 'टोलकप्पैयम्' (Tolkappium) नामक महत्त्वपूर्ण ग्रन्थसे उपरोक्त बातोका समर्थन होता है।
इससे यह प्रमाणित होता है कि जैनधर्मकी प्राचीनताकी जड कितनी गहरी है। वह वैदिक धर्मका न तो अग है, न उससे प्रभावित है। तुलनात्मक धर्मके विशेषज्ञ विद्यावारिधि श्री चम्पतरायजी वैरिस्टरने अपनी शोधका यह परिणाम प्रकाशित किया है कि जैनधर्म वैज्ञानिक तथा सुव्यवस्थित है। वैज्ञानिक दार्शनिक विचारप्रणालीके अनन्तर रूपकयुक्त (allegorical) धार्मिक विचारधारा प्रचलित हुई। मूल
