अध्याय -3
आत्मा जिस भाव को करता है, वह उस भाव का कर्ता होता है - जं कुणदि भावमादा कत्ता सो होदि तस्स भावस्स। कम्मत्तं परिणमदे तम्हि सयं पॉग्गलं दव्वं॥ (3-23-91)
आत्मा जिस भाव को करता है, वह उस भाव का कर्ता होता है। उसके कर्ता होने पर पुद्गल द्रव्य स्वयं कर्मरूप परिणमित होता है।
The soul itself is the causal agent of whatever impure modifications it undergoes. As the soul turns into a causal agent, physical matter gets transformed into karmic matter.
अज्ञान से कर्मों का कर्तृत्व है -
परमप्पाणं कुव्वं अप्पाणं पि य परं करंतो सो। अण्णोणमओ जीवो कम्माणं कारगो होदि॥
(3-24-92)
पर को अपने रूप करता हुआ और अपने को पररूप करता हुआ वह अज्ञानी जीव कर्मों का कर्ता होता है।
Believing non-self to be self, and self to be non-self, the ignorant soul becomes the causal agent of various karmas.
