In fact the root is in a way defective, there being no forms for the 2nd and 3rd person plural. BTS serves the purpose irrespective of person or number. 149-153. The Causal forms. The normal terminations to make the causal form from the primitive are 37, 8, 3114 and sha; e. g. fiths, FITE, #7198 and (Tas, (xitat also, see III. 153 below.) sala is the termination of the Causal if the first vowel is a long vowel, e.g सोसविअ from शोषितम् , तोसविसं for allogg. The Causal termination is either dropped or changed to stile before the termination (a) of the past passive participle and terminations of the passive ( see III. 160 below ); e. g. Flat, llàst, Firews, STUTETT. 156. Before (a), the termination of the past passive participle, the ending 3 of the root is changed to g; e. g. EZT, TÍT37 etc. 157. Before FEIT (of the Absolutive , gt (of the Infinitive ), gou (of the Potential passive participle ) and terminations of the Future, the endings of the root is changed to as well as , e. g. EidsvT, EN5501 etc. 159. w and wr are really speaking terminations of the Optative; they are however generalised (see III. 177 below ) and used to denote, Persent, Future and Imparative. They serve all persons and all numbers. Before them the ending 37 of the root is changed to g. 160-161. These two Sutras speak of the passive forms. Falgaufrat etc., see IV. 241 and the following Sutras. The य of the passive is changd to ईअ and इज्ज; e.g., हसीअइ, हसिज्जइ. From er and ae we get respectively fa and qe as passive bases. 162–164.
