________________ विषयसुख है, इस प्रकार का उनका मत अप्रसिद्ध (सिद्ध नहीं ) है, इसलिए उचित नहीं है ||२|| अप्राप्तत्वभ्रमादुच्चैरवाप्तेष्वप्यनन्तशः । कामभोगेषु मूढानां समीहा नोपशाम्यति ॥३॥ भावार्थ : कामभोग अनंत बार प्राप्त हुए हैं, फिर भी कभी प्राप्त नहीं, हुए, इस भ्रम से मूढ जीवों की इच्छा शान्त नहीं होती ॥३॥ विषयैः क्षीयते कामो नेन्धनैरिव पावकः । प्रत्युत प्रोल्लसच्छक्तिर्भूय एवोपवर्द्धते ॥४॥ भावार्थ : जैसे इन्धन से अग्नि शान्त नहीं होती, अपितु अधिकाधिक भड़कती है, वैसे ही विषयों के सेवन करने से कामवासना शान्त नहीं होती, परन्तु शक्ति बढ़ जाने से कामवासना बारबार अधिकाधिक बढ़ती जाती है ॥४॥ सौम्यत्वमिव सिंहानां पन्नगानामिव क्षमा । विषयेषु प्रवृत्तानां वैराग्यं खलु दुर्लभम् ॥५॥ भावार्थ : सिंहों में कभी सौम्यता नहीं आ सकती तथा सर्पों में कभी क्षमा नहीं आ सकती, क्योंकि उनका स्वभाव ही क्रूर है, इसी प्रकार विषयों में प्रवृत्त होने वाले जीवों को वैराग्य होना अतिदुर्लभ है ॥५॥ अकृत्वा विषयत्यागं यो वैराग्यं दिधीर्षति । अपथ्यमपरित्यज्य स रोगोच्छेदमिच्छति ॥६॥ अधिकार पाँचवां ४५
