येषां कैरव-कुन्दवृन्द-शशभृत्कर्पूरशुभ्रा गुणा, मालिन्यं व्यपनीय चेतसि नृणां वैशद्यमातन्वते । सन्तः सन्तु मयि प्रसन्नमनसस्ते केऽपि गौणीकृतस्वार्था मुख्यपरोपकारविधयोऽत्युच्छृंखलैः किं खलैः ॥१॥ भावार्थ : श्वेत कमल, कुन्दपुष्प - समूह, चन्द्रमा और कपूर के समान जिनके उज्ज्वल गुण मुमुक्षुओं के चित्त की मलिनता को दूरकर स्वच्छता फैलाते हैं, जिन्होंने अपने स्वार्थ को गौण कर दिया है और परोपकार के कार्यों (विधानों) को मुख्य कर दिया है, ऐसे कई सन्तपुरुष मुझ पर प्रसन्न चित्त वाले हों; फिर मुझे अत्यन्त अच्छृंखल दुर्जनों से क्या मतलब है ? || १ || ग्रन्थार्थान् प्रगुणीकरोति सुकविं यत्नेन तेषां प्रथामातन्वन्ति कृपाकटाक्षलहरीलावण्यतः सज्जनाः । माकन्दद्रुममंजरीं वितनुने चित्रा मधुश्रीस्ततः । सौभाग्यं प्रथयन्ति पंचमचमत्कारेण पुंस्कोकिलाः ॥२॥
भावार्थ : सुकवि प्रौढ़ ग्रन्थों के अर्थों को प्रयत्नपूर्वक तैयार (सरल) करते हैं, परन्तु उनकी प्रसिद्धि तो सज्जन अपने कृपाकटाक्षरूपी लहरों से उत्पन्न वात्सल्यरूपी लावण्य से अधिकार इक्कीसवाँ
