સરકારી કેળવણી ખાતાની સહાયતા અને સહકાર

(બુદ્ધિપ્રકાશ, ૧૯૨૬, પૃ. ૨૧૪.) પુસ્તક પ્રકાશન અને ઉત્તેજન અર્થે સેસાઇટીએ અનેક વિધ માર્ગ ગ્રહણ કર્યા હતા, તેમાં સરકારી કેળવણી ખાતા સાથે સહકાર કરી અને તેની મદદ મેળવવી તે એક માર્ગ હત; અને એ પ્રકારે જે સંગીન કાર્ય તે સાધી શકી તે જેમ માર્ગદર્શક અને લોકપકારી તેમ સાહિત્યની દૃષ્ટિએ કિમતી અને અગત્યનું હતું. પ્રસ્તુત પ્રકરણમાં એ જ વિષયને ચર્ચીશું.
સોસાઇટી સ્થપાઈ તે સમયે કેળવણીનું તંત્ર ઑર્ડ ઓફ એજ્યુકેશન હસ્તક હતું, અને તેના વહિવટ પર દેખરેખ મુલ્કી અધિકારીઓ રાખતા હતા; પણ સન ૧૮૫૪ માં સર ચાર્લ્સ વુડન ખરીતે લખાઈ આવ્યો તે પછી પરિસ્થિતિ પલટાઈ ગઈ અને કંપની સરકારને નવું કેળવણું ખાતું
