This day fell in the year Vyaya by both systems; for by the mean-sign system Vyaya lasted from the 23rd September, A, D. 865, to the 19th September, A. D. 945. The year Plavanga, by the mean-sign system, did not commence till the 17th October, A. D. 945, and it is therefore clear that the donation, to which the date in line 45 refers, was made some time before the date, referred to in line 3, when the inscription was put up. [By the southern luni-solar system Plavanga would be S. 869 expired.] 62. - 3. 887. — Ante, Vol. VII. p. 16, and Vol. XIX. p. 102. S. 807 expired: Friday, 5th December, A. D. 945: the 13th tithi of the dark halt ended 10 h. 8 m., and the nakshatra was Anuradha (the Maitra nakshatra) up to 7 h 53 m. after mean bunrise; and the sun was in the sign Dhanuḥ which it had entered on the 23rd November, A.
