________________ JULY, 1884.] PAPERS ON SATRUNJAYA AND THE JAINAS. 198 अप्पांडिहयवरनाणं, दंसणधराणं. विअछउमाणं. | Next comes the Migadhi mantraजिणाणं जावयाणं. तिनाणं तारयाणं, बुद्धाणं बोहयाणं | अरिहंत चेइआणं ।। करोमि काउस्सग्गं ।। मुत्ताणं मो अगाणं, सबणं, सबदरिसिणं, सिव वंदण वत्तिआए ॥ पूअण वत्तिआए ॥१॥ मयल मरुअ मणंत मखय मव्वा बाह, मणराविति | सक्कार वत्तिआए । सम्माण वत्तिआए । सिद्धिगई, नामधेयं, ठाणं संपत्ताणं नमो जिणाणं, बोहिला भवत्तिआए । निरुव सग्ग वत्तिआए ॥२॥ जियभयाणं, जेअअईआसिद्धा जेय भविस्संत णागए | सद्धाए, मेहाए, धिईए । धारणए, अगुष्पहाए । काले संपइअ वट्टमाणा सव्वेतिविहेण वंदामि ॥ | वट्ठमाणीए, ठामिकाउस्सग्गं ।। ३ ।। After the above follows the Migadhi mantra- अन्नत्थ उससिएणं, नीससिएणं, खासिएणं, छीएणं, जावंति चेइआई ॥ उड्डेअ अहेय तिरिअ लोएअ॥ जंभाइएणं, उड्डएणं, वायनीसग्गेणं, भमलिए पित्तमुसव्वाई ताई वंदे ॥ इहसंतो तत्थ संताई ॥ स्थाए सुहुमे हिं अंगसंचालहिं, सुहुमहिंखेलसंचालहिं, Next, he says, सुहुमेहंदिहि संवालहिं, एवमाइएहिं आगारोहिं, इच्छामि खमासमणो &c., अभगोअविराहिउ, हुन्जिमेका उस्सग्गो, जाव अरिas before. Then in Magadhi हंताताणं भगवताणं, नमुकारेणं, नपारेमि, तावकायेणं जावंत केवि साहु ॥ भरहेरवय महाविदेहेअ॥ ठाणोणं, मोणेण, जाणणं अप्पाणं बोसिरामि ।। सबसि तेसि पणउं । तिविहेण तिदंडविरयाणं ।। He then rises and stands erect in the Jina___And next, the Sanskrit prayer called Pancha mudra, with the toes 4 fingers apart, and heels 3, with the palms of the hands towards the paraméshthi namaskara or Namorhat, - thighs, and in this posture he mentally repeats नमोऽहन्सिद्धाचार्योपाध्यायसर्वसाधुभ्यः॥ the Magadhi naukira, viz.:This is followed by the Sthavana, a Miigadhi | नमो अरिहंताणं, नमो सिद्धाणं, नमो आयरिआणं hymn नमो उवज्झायाणं, नमो लोए सबसाहूणं, एसो पंचनमुउवसग्ग हरं पासं ॥ पासं वंदामि कम्म घण मुकं ॥ । कारो सन्न पावपणासणो, मंगलणंच सबेसि, पढविसहर विस निन्नास ।। मंगल कल्लाण आवास ॥१॥ हवह मंगलं ॥ विसहर फुलिंगमंतं ।। कंठे धारेइ जो सया मणुउं ॥ After this he repeats part of a Màgadhi तस्स गह रीग मारी ॥ जरा जति उवसाम ॥२॥ | Thui. (Sans. : sthuti), such asचिट्ठनुदूरमंतो ।। तुष्भप्पणामो विबहु फलो होइ॥ ___ कल्लाणकंदं पढमं जिणिदं ॥ संतितउ नेमिजणं न रतिरिएस विजीव ।। पार्वति न दुखदी गच्च ।। ३॥ | मणिदं ॥पासं पयासं सगणिक्कठाणं॥ भत्तीय वंदे सिरितुह सम्मत्ते लद्धे । चिंतामणिकप्प पायवभहिए ॥ । पावन्ति अविग्घेणं ॥ जीवा अयरामरं ठाणं ॥ ४॥ | Next, he salutes the Tirthamkara in such इअ संथउं महायस ॥ भत्तिभर निप्भरेण हिअएण।। | songs as he may choose. And, lastly, he strikes तादेव दिज्जबोहिं ।। भवे भवे पास जिणचंद ॥५॥ | the jayaghantà or bell and retires from the mandapa, exclaiming Avassahi (Sans. AvishyriAfter it he repeats the Pranidhána, sitting in mi), i.e., 'let me enter the outer world. Here the Muktdsukti posture, in which he holds his ends the morning puja. joined hands above the level of his forehead : The second or noon pújá begins about 10 जयवीयराय जगगुरु ॥ होउ ममं तुहप्प भावउं भयवं ।। o'clock A.M., when the Pujari enters the temple भवतिबेउ मग्गरणु ॥ सा रिआ इ फलसिद्धी॥१॥ after having bathed in his own house'; or at the. temple if there is provision there for so doing. लोगविरुद्धच्चाउ ।। गुरुजणपूजा परत्थकरणंच ।। In bathing, the following rules are to सहगुरु जोगो तब्बय ।। ससेवणा आभव मखंडा ॥२॥ be observed :-He must sit facing the east; वारि बह जइविनिआणं ।। बंधणं वी अराय तुह सम ॥ wash the ten kakávalis or members of the तह विममहुज सेवा ।। भवे भवेतु ह्यचलणाणं ॥ ३ ॥ body, the names of which begin with ka, दुखखउ कम्मखउ ।। समाहि मरणंच बोहिलाभो॥ viz., -the two ears (kán), the two wriste (kanda), the two ankles (kanda), the two संपबउ महए ॥ तुह नाह पणाम करणोणं ॥ ४ ॥ armpits (kaksha), neck (kantha), and loins (kafi). सर्व मंगल मांगल्यं ।। सर्व कल्याण कारणं । He should then rub his body with a clean प्रधानं सर्व धर्माणां ।। बन जयति शासनं ॥ ५॥ white cloth and enter the temple with a vessel
