~એ વાતના કાઈપણ ઈનકાર કરશે નહિ કે ભારતવષ પેાતાના આધ્યાત્મિક અને તાત્ત્વિક વિકાસ માટે જગતમાં અગ્રસ્થાન ભાગવે છે, તેના યશ બ્રાહ્મણેા અને બૌદ્ધો કરતાં જૈનોને જરા પણ એ નથી. ’
મદ્રાસના એક વખતના પંત પ્રધાન પી. એસ. કુમારસ્વામી રાજાએ કહ્યુ` છે કે · The country is
ever indebted to the Cult of Jainism, because of the rich Cultural heritage it has conffered on us. ૨ -જૈન ધમે જે સમૃદ્ધ સાંસ્કૃતિક વારસા આપ્યા છે, તે માટે આ દેશ તેના સદાને માટે ઋણી રહેશે. '
પ્રસિદ્ધ વિચારક અને વિદ્વાન્સર સન્મુખ ચેટ્ટીએ તા એથી પણ આગળ વધીને કહ્યું છે કે It is beyond my capacity to say anything about the greatness of the Jain religion. I have read sufficiently to warrant my saying that the contribution which the Jains have made to Indian Culture is something uuique. I personally believe that if only Jainism had kept its hold firmly in India, we would peheaps had more united India and certainly a grerter India than today.−જૈન ધર્મની મહત્તા વિષે કંઈ પણ કહેવું, તે મારી શક્તિ બહારનું છે. મેં મારા એ વિધાનને પુષ્ટ ૨. સને ૧૯૪૯ ના ડીસેમ્બરની ૨૪ મી તારીખે મદ્રાસમાં જૈન કોન્ફરન્સનું ઉદ્ઘાટન કરતાં અપાયેલા ભાષણમાંથી.
