मूलाचारवे मुनि आहार लेते हैं प्राणोंको धारण करना धर्मके निमित्त और धर्मको मोक्षको निमित्त पालते हैं ।। ८१५ ॥ लद्धे ण होति तुट्ठा णवि य अलद्धेण दुम्मणा होति । दुक्खे सुहेसु मुणिणो मज्झत्थमणाकुला होति ॥८१६
लब्धे न भवंति तुष्टा नापि च अलब्धेन दुर्मनसो भवंति । दुःखे सुखेषु मुनयः मध्यस्था अनाकुला भवंति ॥ ८१६ ॥
अर्थ-मुनिराज आहारके मिलनेपर तो प्रसन्न नहीं होते और न मिलनेपर मलिन चित्त नहीं होते । दुःख होनेपर समभाव तथा सुख होनेपर आकुलतारहित होते हैं ॥ ८१६ ॥ णवि ते अभित्थुणंति य पिंडत्थं णवि य किंचि जायते। मोणव्वदेण मुणिणो चरंति भिक्खं अभासंता ॥८१७
नापि ते अभिष्टुवंति पिंडार्थ नापि च किंचित् याचंते । मौनव्रतेन मुनयः चरंति भिक्षां अभाषयंतः॥ ८१७॥

अर्थ-तुम हमको ग्रास दो ऐसे करुणारूप मलिन वचन कहनेकी इच्छा नहीं करते। और भिक्षाके न मिलनेपर लौट आते हैं परंतु वे धीर मुनि मौनको नहीं तोड़ते ॥ ८१८ ॥
