expressed his readiness to present him with great wealth (a crore of Māsa). He said that he had vowed to abandon all property and possessions. Thus with the rigid obresvance of all vows he was blessed with Omniscience. This story well illustrates the potent power of truthfulness, denial of worldly desires and pleasures, for the attainment of true bliss. માન ઉત્પન્ન થતાં પાતાથી અધિક સમૃદ્ધ ઉપર દૃષ્ટિ કરવી— સામાન્ય વર્ગના માણસા લક્ષાધિપતિ તરફ, લક્ષાધિપતિ કાટીશ્વર તરફ, કાટીધ્વજ રાજા તરફ, રાજા ચક્રવતી તરફ, ચક્રવતી દેવતા તરફ, દેવતા ઈન્દ્ર તરફ, ઇન્દ્ર યાગીશ્વર તરફ, યોગીશ્વર, સત્તરૂપે દીપતા એવા દિવ્ય આત્મા તરફ અને તે, ત્રિભુવનપતિ પરમેશ્વર તરફ જો ખરાખર નિરીક્ષણ કરે, તેા ઉન્માદ કરવાને અવકાશ રહે નાહ. ”—૪૦ ૪૧ नास्मादृशां युक्तो मानः
'
यत्पादपद्मे मधुपन्ति सर्वे सुरेश्वरास्ते जगदीशितारः । दर्पोष्लेशादपि सम्प्रमुक्ताः किं नः क्षमस्तर्ह्यभिमानलेश: ? ॥४२॥
When the Lord of the world at whose lotus-like feet, the gods swarm like bees are free from even a particle of pride, is it then proper for us to be proud even to a small degree ? ( 49 )
આપણા જેવાઓને અભિમાન રાખવા ટેજ કેમ ?—
'
જેઓના ચરણુકમળમાં સર્વ ઇન્દ્રો ભ્રમરની પેઠે આચરણ કરે છે, તે જગદીશ્વરા અલ્પમાત્ર પણ અહંકારથી જ્યારે મુક્ત છે, તે પછી આપણા જેવાઓને લેશમાત્ર પણ અભિમાનરાખવા ધટે ખરા ? ”—૪ર अभिमानचेष्टा अन्ततो लज्जाकरी
निमील्य नेत्रे हृदयं निवेश्य प्रशान्ततायां परिचिन्तनायाम् । स्वयं त्रपाया* अभिमानचेष्टा संजायतेऽत्रानुभवः प्रमाणम् ॥ ४३ ॥
