Contentment in three things is commendable, viz., the wife, food ad wealth. It is not commendable in three others, viz., study, prayer and charity. बृद्धकाले मृता भार्या परहस्तगतं धनम् । भोजनं च पराधीनं सिस्रः पुसां विडंबनाः ॥

Men's troubles are three, the dying of the wife in old age, passing away of money into the hands of others, and dependence on others for food. यस्य नास्ति स्वयं प्रज्ञा शास्त्रं तस्य करोति किम् । लोचनाभ्यां विहीनस्य दर्पणं किं करिष्यति ॥
जिस में खुद अकल नहि उसके लिये किताब वे फायदा है जैसे आंखें न होने से आरसी कुछ काम नहि देती
A book does him no good who has no sense in him. self. What service will a mirror do him who is destitute of the eyes?
जलविंदु निपातेन क्रमशः पूर्यते धटः । स हेतुः सर्वविद्यानां धर्मस्य च धनस्य च ॥
पानी का कतरा टपकते २ घड़ा भर जाता है यही हाल विद्या धर्म और धन का है
