Bhûya became a 'Sarirapãosiya' woman (a woman who thinks that every part of the body is impure, and does not accept even a seat without sprinkling water over it which is prohibitied for monks and nuns in Jainism), and often and often washed her hands, feet, head, mouth, breasts, arm-pits and secret parts of the body, and wherever she spread her bed or seat for study she first of all sprinkled that place with water and then she occupied a place or spread a bed or a seat there. . 161. Then the Pupphachâlã nuns spoke to. the nun Bhîyå thus: “O you beloved of the gods, we are nuns free from the knot of worldly attachment protected in going (and so forth, down to ) self-restrained female anchorites. It does not behove us, therefore, to be · Sarirapãosiya.' But, O you beloved of the gods, you are a 'Sarirapãosiya' and every now and then wash your hands (and so forth as above, down to) spread your seat for study For Private and Personal Use Only
