The text which runs up to 1. 2. 10 (with occasional omissions) is accompanied by a modern commentary which quotes Kullūka Bhatta, Bhakti Ratnī kara, Gangārāma Bhatta and Madhusūdana Sarasvati. Beginning of the commentary :
मानसभूकृतवासा मधुरा चपलालिसंसक्ता । निखिलजनानन्दकरौ श्यामा कादम्बिनी जयति ॥ १ ॥
मातापितरौ नत्वा गुरुचरणं सज्जनवृन्दम् । रसिकजनानन्दकरौं सूत्रव्याख्यां समासतः कुर्वे ॥ १० ॥
अथ खतः पुरुषार्थस्य कामस्य तत्त्वं विचिख्यासुः परमकारगिाको भगवान् वात्सायनमुनिस्तच्छास्त्रं प्रणयति स्म ॥ तत्रादौ शिशाचार परिपाल यन्ननुषङ्गतः शिष्यशिक्षायै मङ्गलं निबधाति ॥ नमो धर्मेति ॥

अनन्यजखरतन्तौ अनुतर्षखीकरणस्यावश्यकत्वात् । १ । रत्यानन्दस्योहोघे अनिर्वचनौयानन्दस्य कारणभूतत्वात् ॥ २ ॥
