________________ 334.] C--Natya 423 Subject.- A commentary in prose on the Dasarūpa, one of the most inportant works on Hindu dramaturgy composed by Dhanañjaya in the last quarter of the roth century A. D. Haas observes in his Introduction to the edition of the Dasarupa (p. XXV): "The real merit of Dhanika's Avaloka lies in the occasional lengthy discussions of disputed and obscure points and in his collectron of illustrated quotations many of which are of value in obtaining a clear conception of the principles of Hindu dramaturgy ". " A practical, condensed and systematic manual" of the principles of Dramaturgy based on the authority of Bharata. (S. K. De-Sanskrit Poetics Vol. I, p. 131 ). The Ms contains the text of Daśarūpa with the commentary of Dhanika. Begins.-- ॥श्रीगणेशाय नमः ॥ गोपालाचार्याय नमः ॥ सदाचारं प्रमाणयता ॥ अविनेन प्रकरणसमाप्त्यर्थमिष्टदेवतायाः । प्रकृताभिमतयोश्च देवतयोर्नमस्कारः कृतिना क्रियते । श्लोकद्वयेन ॥ । नमस्तस्मै गणेशाय यत्कंठः पुष्करायते ॥ मदाभोगधनध्वानो नीलकंठस्य तांडवे ॥१॥ यस्य कंठः पुष्करायते । मृदंगवदाचन(र)ति ॥ धनध्वानो मिबिडध्वनिः । नीलकंठस्य शिवस्य तांडवे । उद्धतनृत्ये अत्र श्लेषाक्षिप्यमाणोपमाछायालंकारः। Colophon of first chapter (folio 18). इति श्रीदशरूपकारलोके ध्व(घ)निककृती प्रथम प्रकाशः ॥१॥ Colophon of second chapter (folio 33). ॥ इति विष्णुसूनोम्वनिकस्य कृतौ दशरूपावलोके नेतृप्रकाशो नाम द्वितीयः प्रकाशः ।। छ । Colophon of third chapter (folio 41). !। इति श्रीविष्णुभट्टसूनोर्ध्वनिककृतौ दशरूपावलोके नाटकादिलक्षणस्तृतीयः प्रकाशः॥
