importance of “anukampādāna”, a donation given out of compassion. The city of Campā is said to have 84 squares (catuspathas ) where different dealers carried on

जातं माहासनमवे त्वया कुलमदः कृतः तेन कर्मणा त्वं 'कांपील्यपुरे' त्रिविक्रमभेष्ठिनो दास्याः पुत्रो जातः इति पूर्वभवं श्रुत्वा चंपकव्यवहारी भार्यायुतो दीक्षा लात्वा तपस्तेपे च अनशनेन मृत्वा स्वर्ग जगाम । ततव्युत्वा 'महाविद्र(दे)हे' मोक्षं पास्यति ।
