ज्ञानी सुनहु सँदेश, सबद विवेकी पोखिया । कह्यो मुक्ति पुर देस, तीन लोक के बाहिरे ।। मन तहँ गगन समाय, धुनि लुनि सुनि कै मगन है ।
नहि आवै नहि जाय, सुन्न सबद थिति पावही ।। Even the English poet Wordsworth speaks of such sounds“ Have not we too ? yes, we have, answers, and we know not whence; roechoes from beyond the grave, recognised intelligence ! Such sounds our inward ear catches sometimes from afar-listen fonder, hold them dear, for of God-of God they are."
6 In search of the self हत्थ अहुट्टहं देवली बालहं णा हि पवेसु । संतु णिरंजणु तहिं वसइ णिम्मलु होइ गवेसु ॥ ९४ ॥
The temple is three and a half cubits; the uninitiated can not enter it. The untinged, omniscient resides there. Be purified and search him there.
हउं सगुणी पिउ णिग्गुणउ जिल्लव-खणु णीसंगु । एकहिं अंगि वसंतयहं मिलिउ ण अंगहिं अंगु ॥ १०० ॥
I am with qualities; my beloved is without qualities, characterstics or attachment. We live in the same body and yet our persons have not established a contact.
हलि सहि कांइ करइ सो दप्पणु । जहिं पडिबिंबु ण दीसइ अप्पणु । धंधवालु मो जगु पडिहासइ।
धरि अच्छंतु ण घरवइ दीसइ ॥ १२२ ॥ Oh friend ! what is the good of that mirror in which even one's own reflection can not be seen. The world seems to me blind: it can not see the master of the house when he is residing in the house.
मूढा जोवइ देवलई लोयहिं जाइं कियाई । देह ण पिच्छइ अप्पाणिय जहिं सिउ संतु ठियाइं ॥ १८० ॥
