લેાનની યાજનાને કારણે (તેમ જ બીજી રીતે પણ) વિદ્યાર્થીએ વિધાલય પ્રત્યે વિશેષ મમત્વ ધરાવતા થાય છે એમ વિદ્યાલયની કાર્યવાહી જોતાં લાગ્યા વગર નથી રહેતું. જે વિદ્યાર્થીઆમાં ગુણજ્ઞતા અને કૃતજ્ઞતાની લાગણી જાગતી હૈાય છે તે વહેલાંમાં વહેલી તકે પેાતાની રકમ પાછી આપી દેવાની ભાવના સેવવા ઉપરાંત વધુ રકમ આપી શકાય તેા સારું એવી પણ ઉત્સુકતા ધરાવતા હૈાય છે. વિદ્યાલયના ૫૦મા વર્ષોંના રિપોર્ટ (પૃ. ૬૧ )માં અમેરિકા ગયેલ એક વિદ્યાથીના નીચેના ઉગારે આવી ભાવવાનું પ્રતીક અની રહે એવા છે. એ ભાઈ લખે છે કે—
“I hate to see my name on the list of people who haven't paid the loan. I hesitate to pay for any charity drive here, while my loan is still unpaid. It's an awful feeling. I just hope that it won't be too long '
[અર્થાત્ જે વિદ્યાર્થી ઓએ પેાતાની લેાન ચૂકતે નથી કરી એમની યાદીમાં મારુ નામ જોઈ ને મને ( મારી જાત ઉપર) તિરસ્કાર છૂટે છે. મારી લેાન હજી સુધી ભરપાઈ નથી થઈ તેથી હું કોઈ પણ સખાવતી કામમાં મારા કાળા આપતા ખમચાઉં છું. આ બહુ જ ભયંકર લાગણી છે. હું ઉમેદ રાખુ છું કે હવે એમાં વધારે પડતા વિલંબ નહીં થાય.]
આથી આગળ વધીને એક વિદ્યાથી ભાઈ (રિપેટ ૪૮ : પૃ. ૫૫-૫૬) ખૂખ લાગણી પૂર્વક લખે છે કેઃ—
"It has been my cherished desire to repay the Institution's debt first by a single payment and before other interest bearing dues are repaid. I am happy to tell that what was desired has been carried out. To-day, I am much filled with legitimate pride as the repayment has been made, earned and obtained as a direct consequence of the education I received, through the assistance of the institution. ''
......My obligation to the institution in this sence if really inextinguishable, though the books of account may not show any debit to my account.
( અર્થાત્ હું એવી ઇચ્છા સેવતા રહ્યો છું કે સંસ્થાની લેાન એકીસાથે અને બીજી વ્યાજે લીધેલી રકમા પાકે તે પહેલાં ચૂકતે કરી દઉં. એ જણાવતાં આનંદ થાય છે કે મારી એ ઇચ્છા પાર્ પડી છે. આજે હું મારું દેવું ચૂકતે કરી શકયો છું એનેા હું વાજી ગ અનુભવી રહ્યો છું. હું જે કંઈ મેળવી શકયો છું તે સંસ્થાની સહાયથી મેળવેલ શિક્ષણનુ જ પરિણામ છે. આ રીતે વિચારતાં સંસ્થાનુ` મારા ઉપરનુ' ઋણ કયારેય ફેડી શકાય એવું નથી—ભલે ને પછી ચાપડામાં મારા નામે કશું લેણું નીકળતુ ન હેાય. )
આથી પણ એક કમ આગળ વધતા હાય એમ અમેરિકાથી એક વિદ્યાર્થીમિત્રે વિદ્યાલય ઉપર જે લાગણીથી ઊભરાતા પત્ર લખ્યા છે એ અ ંગે (રિપાટ ૪૩ : પૃ. ૩૫માં) લખવામાં આવ્યુ` છે કે—
“ સંસ્થામાંથી છૂટા થયા પછી માત્ર ચાર જ વર્ષમાં એકીસાથે પાંચહજાર રૂપિયાની રકમ મેાકલતાં હૈં।. મેાહનરાજ એચ. જૈન યુ. એસ. એ. થી લખેલ પત્રમાં જણાવે છે કે :
"To the institution, I owe a great deal, much more than the few thousand rupees. I wish that in the near future, I may be able to do a little more than my commitments, ''
