देवस्योर्ध्वस्य चार्चा स्याज्जानु लम्बिभुजदया। श्रीवत्सोष्णीषयुक्त द्वे छत्रादिपरिवारिते ।।
-Vivekavilāsa, 1, 128-30. The Pratisthāsārasarigraha gives some more details about the icon (bimba) of Jinendra (i.e., Tirthankara). After inentioning his seat, etc., it states that he should be young (taruna), nude (digambara) and decorated in chest (bhusita) with a Srivatsa symbol. The height of the image should be 108 angulas. There should be no hair in the arm-pit or on any other part of his body and no line for the moustache :
अथ बिम्बं जिनेन्द्रस्य कर्तव्यं लक्षणान्वितम् । ऋज्वायुतम संस्थान तरुणाङ्ग दिगम्बरम् ।। श्रीवक्षभूषितोरस्कं जानुप्राप्तकराग्रजम् । निजाङगुलप्रमाणेन साष्टाङगुलशतायुतम् ।। कक्षादिरोमहीनाङ्गं श्मश्रलेखाविवजितम् । ऊवं प्रलम्बकं दत्वा समाप्त्यन्तं च धारयेत् ।।
-Pratisthāsārasaigraha, 4,1,2,4. The Rūpamandana, an important iconographic text by Sutradhāra Mandana, devotes its sixth chapter to Jaina iconography. After mentioning the names of the 24 Tirthankaras, it specifies their colour, symbols, Yakşas and Yaksis and the tree under which each one of them had attained the supreme knowledge. It also describes the following features of a Jina linage :
छत्रत्रयं जिनस्यैव रथिकाभिस्त्रिभिर्यता (-युतम्) ॥ अशोकद्रुमपत्रैश्च देवदुन्दुभिवादकैः । सिंहासनमसुराद्योगजसिंहा (सिंहासनेनासुराद्यर्गजसिंहैः) विभूषिताः ।। मध्ये च कर्मचक्रं च तत्पावयोश्च यक्षिणी । द्वितालविस्तराः कार्या बहिः परिकरस्य तु ।। देर्पा तु प्रतिमा तुल्या तयोरुद्रं तु तोरणम् । वाहिका बाह्यपक्षे तु गोसिंहरलंकृताः (गोसिंहैः समलंकृताः) । कर्तव्या द्वारशाखा च तत्तन्मूर्तिगसंयुता ।। तोरणं पञ्चधा प्रोक्तं रथिकार्य (रथिकायां) च देवताः ।।
