अच्छा सुडौल दृढ शरीर, कान्ति, दीप्ति, सौंदर्य, मधुर वचन, कलाओं में कुशलता, उत्तम कुल, उत्तम जाति, वय (दांर्घायु ), विद्या, परिवार, रूप, सम्पत्ति, चारित्र और पौरुष ( अनपुंसकता ), ये शरीरसंबंधी गुण हैं, जो वरमें होने चाहिए ॥ ६-७ ॥
पूर्वमायुः परीक्षेत पश्चाल्लक्षणमेव च ।
त्रैवर्णिकाचार |
वपुः कान्तिश्च दीप्तिश्र लावण्यं प्रियवाक्यता । कलाकुशलता चांत शरीरान्वयिनो गुणाः ॥ ६ ॥ कुलजातिवयोविद्याकुटुम्बरूपसम्पदः ।

चारित्रं पौरुषं चात शरीरान्वायनो गुणाः ॥ ७ ॥
आयुहनजनानां च लक्षणैः किं प्रयोजनम् ॥ ८ ॥
सबसे पहले वरकी आयुको परीक्षा करना चाहिए। बाद उसमें गुणों की जांच करना उचित है । क्योंकि आयुहीन मनुष्योंके लक्षणोंसे फिर प्रयोजन ही क्या है ॥ ८ ॥ तथा विज्ञाय यत्नेन शुभाशुभमिति स्थितम् ।

मातरं पितरं चापि भ्रातरं देवरं तथा ।
पतिं विनाशयेन्नारी लक्षणैः परिवर्जिता ॥ १० ॥
लक्षणोंसे रहित कुलक्षणा कन्या माता, पिता, भाई, देवर तथा पतिका नाश करनेवाली होती है ॥ १० ॥
कन्या परीक्षा करने योग्य चिह्नं । हस्तौ पादौ परीक्षेत अङ्गुलीच नवांस्तथा । पाणिरेखा जंघे च कटिं नाभिं तथैव च ॥ ११ ॥ ऊरुवोदरमध्यं च स्तनौ कर्णौ भुजावुभौ ।

वक्षःस्थलं ललाटं च शिरः केशांस्तथैव च ॥ १२ ॥ रोमराज स्वरं वर्ण ग्रीवां नासादयस्तथा । एतत्सर्वं परीक्षेत सामुद्रिक विदार्यकः ॥ १३ ॥
सामुद्रिक शास्त्रका वेत्ता पुरुष कन्या के दोनों हाथ, दोनों पैर, उंगलियां, नख, हाथोंकी रेखाएं, दोनों घुटने, कटि, नाभि, छाती, उदरका मध्यभाग, स्तन, कान, भुजाएं, वक्षस्थल, ललाट, सिर, केश, रोमावली, स्वर, रंग, गर्दन तथा नाक आदि सारे अंगों की परीक्षा करे ॥ ११-१३ ॥ कन्याके शुभाशुभ लक्षण | पादौ समाङ्गुली स्निग्धो भूम्यां यदि प्रतिष्ठितौ ।
