INTRODUCTION
Prasastis1 and the introductory verses of the Pathyaratnakos'a and see what facts can be ascertained from them.
Name:
The Ms. C. of Nṛtyaratnakos'a gives to this person only one name Kalasena. But in the printed text of Pathyaratnakos'a we find such variants of Kalasena as Kalajit, Kaluji", Kṛṣṇa and Tamarāji". Mention of Kama seems to be a misprint for Kala".
Geneology of Kalasena:
In the Pathyaratnakosa, Kalasena refers to his dynasty as Vyaghrac mikaravams'a3. We can gather the following geneology of Kalasena from his Prasastis:
Tamarāja (1)
Amodarāja
Rāmarāja
Penkarāja [Peḍa] P. R. K. P. 3, V. 12.
Mhamaraja [Hmanga] P. R. K. V. 13, (Queen Padmavati) Tamarajendra [Tamaraja] P. R. K. P. 5, V. 16.
Kālasena
The second Tamaraja is described as Mahārājādhirāja-MahārāṇāS'rimrgānka Tamarajendra. It is not clear as to what is suggested by Srimṛganka. Mrganka means the moon. Tämarajendra can be taken to mean Tama, the great king.
