जिस प्रकार कूटनीतिन अग्रेज भारतवासियोका स्वार्थवश भ्रान्त चित्रण करते हुए उनको लकडहारे और पानी भरनेवाले (Hewers of wood and drawers of water) लिखते थे, उसी प्रकारकी दूपित भावनावाले एक पादरी महागय लिखते है"-जैनियोके पास महत्त्वपूर्ण साहित्यका अभाव है, जिस धर्ममें इस प्रकारकी मुख्य वाते मानी जाये, कि ईश्वरको नहीं मानो, मनुप्यकी पूजा करो, क्रूर सादिका सरक्षण करो, उस धर्मको जीवित रहनेका अधिकार नहीं है।
चोल नरेगोके गज्यमे जैन मन्दिर, मठादिका अपार नाग किया गया। इस सम्बन्धमे प्रायगरका कथन है-The chola. sovereigns had ever remained bitter enemies of the faith and who is there that does not know of Raja Chol 's terrible destruction of the Jain temples and monasteries and the ravaging of the country as far as Puligeri ?
