भिक्षाचरी के निषिद्ध क्षेत्र
PROHIBITED PLACES १. न चरेज्ज वेससामंते-साधु भिक्षाचरी के लिए निकले तो ऐसे स्थानों की तरफ नहीं जाए जहाँ वेश्याओं का मुहल्ला हो एवं जहाँ कामी पुरुषों का आवागमन भी रहता हो।
(अध्ययन ५, श्लोक ९) 1. While wandering to collect alms an ascetic should not visit the areas inhabited by prostitutes and frequented by lascivious people.
(Chapter 5, verse 9) २. साणं सूइयं गाविं-भिक्षा के लिए जाते हुए मार्ग में जहाँ कुत्तों की लड़ाई होती हो, जहाँ प्रसूता गाय या कुतिया अपने बच्चों को स्तनपान कराती हो, मदोन्मत्त बैल आदि आ रहे हों, बालक क्रीड़ा कर रहे हों या आपस में युद्ध (लड़ाई) हो रहा हो तो ऐसे स्थान की तरफ नहीं जाए।
(अध्ययन ५, श्लोक १२) 2. While moving about to collect alms an ascetic should avoid the places and paths where dogs are fighting, a cow or a bitch is feeding a calf or a pup, a mad bull is approaching, children are playing, or a fight or a quarrel is going on. (Chapter 5, verse 12)
३. साहटु निखिवित्ताणं-साधु भिक्षा के लिए गृहस्थ के घर में प्रवेश करे तब यदि भोजन चूल्हे पर चढ़ा हो, अग्नि आदि का स्पर्श होता हो या सचित्त वस्तु, हरी वनस्पति आदि उस पर रखी हो अथवा दाता कच्चे जल से हाथ धोकर देती हो, इसी प्रकार सचित्त-अचित्त का मिश्रण करके देती हो तो मुनि उसे कहे-इस प्रकार की भिक्षा लेना मुझे नहीं कल्पता और वह भिक्षा बिना लिये वापस लौट जाय।
(अध्ययन ५, श्लोक ३०-३६) 3. While entering a house, if a shraman observes that the food to be offered to him is being cooked on a stove and flames are touching it, green vegetables are placed on its cover, or the donor prepares to give after washing his or her hands with fresh water, or after mixing sachit food (food having living organisms, or raw and half cooked food) and achit food (food without living organisms or properly cooked food), the shraman should frankly say that it is not allowed for him to accept such food. He should retreat without accepting alms.
