६ : तम्हा तेण न गच्छेज्जा संजए सुसमाहिए।
सइ अन्नेण मग्गेण जयमेव परक्कमे॥ इसलिए संयम में भलीभाँति समाधि रखने वाला साधु अन्य मार्गों के होने पर उक्त मार्गों से न जावे। यदि अन्य मार्ग न हो तो यतनापूर्वक उस मार्ग में गमन करे॥६॥
6. Therefore an ascetic, properly following the code of conduct, should avoid such paths as long as alternatives are available. If no alternative is available he should tread that path carefully.
७ : इंगालं छारियं रासिं तुसरासिं च गोमयं।
ससरक्खेहिं पाएहिं संजओ तं नइक्कमे॥ साधु अंगारे या कोयलों के ढेर, राख, के ढेर, तुष के ढेर और गोबर के ढेर को सचित्त रज से भरे हुए पगों से अतिक्रम कर न जाये॥७॥
7. An ascetic with sachit dust sticking to his feet should not walk or cross over heaps of embers, coal, ash, fodder or dung.
८ : न चरेज्ज वासे वासंते महियाए वा पडंतिए।
महावाए व वायंते तिरिच्छ संपाइमेसु वा॥ जब वर्षा बरस रही हो, धुन्ध पड़ रही हो, महावायु (आँधी) चलती हो तथा पतंगे आदि उड़ रहे हों ऐसे समय साधु गोचरी आदि के लिए न जावे॥८॥
8. An ascetic should not go out to collect alms while it is raining, mist is falling, a storm is blowing, or the atmosphere is filled with moth-like insects. विशेषार्थ :
श्लोक ८. तिरिच्छ संपाइमेसु-तिर्यक् संपातिम-जो जीव वक्र अथवा तिरछे उड़ते हैं उन्हें तिर्यक् संपातिम कहते हैं, जैसे-मच्छर, भँवरे, कीट, पतंगे आदि।
