(5) (An ascetic who has accepted a special resolve may feel) "Inspired by a feeling of mutual co-operation and with a view to purify the self, I will serve my fellow ascetics by offering them food (etc.) in excess of my need from what is desirable, acceptable, and brought by me in accordance with the code of alms-begging. Also, I will approve of services rendered by my fellow ascetics, inspired by a feeling of mutual co-operation and with a view to purify the self, in the form of offering me food (etc.) in excess of their need from what is desirable, acceptable, and brought by them in accordance with the code of almsbegging."
Desiring for the reduction of the load of karmas that ascetic gains benefits of austerities (service to others and mortification of the body) effortlessly.
He should properly understand the conduct of service to 9 others exactly as it has been propagated by Bhagavan and thoroughly and immaculately follow equanimity.
विवेचन-इसी अध्ययन के पंचम उद्देशक में साधर्मिक साधुओं में आहार के लेन-देन के सम्बन्ध में चार भंगों का उल्लेख हुआ है। उसमें अग्लान साधु ग्लान साधु की सेवा करने का और ग्लान साधु अग्लान साधुओं से सेवा लेने का संकल्प करता है। उसी संदर्भ में आहार के लेन-देन की चतुर्भंगी बताई गई है। किन्तु यहाँ निर्जरा के उद्देश्य से तथा परस्पर उपकार की दृष्टि से आहारादि सेवा के आदान-प्रदान का विशेष उल्लेख करके इसके पाँच भंग किये गये हैं। ___आचार्य श्री आत्माराम जी म. ने लिखा है-वैयावृत्य करना, कराना और वैयावृत्य करने वाले साधु की प्रशंसा करना, ये तीनों संकल्प कर्म-निर्जरा, इच्छा-निरोध एवं परस्पर उपकार की दृष्टि से अत्यन्त महत्त्वपूर्ण हैं। इस तरह, मन, वचन, काया से सेवा करने, कराने एवं अनुमोदन करने वाले साधक के मन में अपूर्व आनन्द एवं स्फूर्ति की अनुभूति होती है तथा उत्साह की लहर दौड़ जाती है। सेवा-भावना से साधक की साधना तेजस्वी और अन्तर्मुखी बनती है।
(आचारांग, पृ. ६१०) * सूत्र (२२८) में साधक के द्वारा अपनी रुचि और योग्यता के अनुसार की जाने वाली ६ * प्रतिज्ञाओं का जो उल्लेख है वह सार रूप में इस प्रकार है
(१) स्वयं दूसरे साधुओं को आहार लाकर दूंगा, उनके द्वारा लाया हुआ लूँगा। आचारांग सूत्र
