Jaminam' annamane~This phrase conveys that if someone does not kill a being out of fear, allurement, apprehension or other such pressures, it is not an evidence of his being an ascetic or a sage. In fact an ascetic is one who does not harm a being for no other reason but his resolve not to indulge in sinful activities.
१२४. समयं तत्थुवेहाए अप्पाणं विप्पसायए। अणण्णपरमं णाणी णो पमाए कयाइ वि।
आयगुत्ते सदा वीरे जायामायाए जावए। विरागं रूवेहिं गच्छेज्जा महया खुड्डएहिं वा।
आगतिं गतिं परिण्णाय दोहिं वि अंतेहिं अदिस्समाणेहिं से ण छिज्जइ, ण भिज्जइ, ण डज्झइ, ण हम्मइ कंचणं सव्वलोए।
१२४. मुनि समता दृष्टि से विचार करके आत्मा को सदा प्रसन्न रखे। ज्ञानी मुनि, अनन्य परम-(सर्वोच्च संयम) में कदापि प्रमाद न करे।
साधक सदा आत्मा को गुप्त रखे और पराक्रमशील रहे तथा अपनी संयम-यात्रा का निर्वाह (मात्रा के अनुसार) परिमित आहार से करे। __छोटे या बड़े सभी रूपों-दृश्यमान पदार्थों के प्रति वैराग्य धारण करे।
प्राणियों की गति और आगति को भलीभाँति जानकर जो राग और द्वेष के दोनों अन्तों से दूर रहता है, वह समस्त लोक में किसी से कहीं भी छेदा नहीं जाता, भेदा नहीं जाता, जलाया नहीं जाता और मारा नहीं जाता। ___124. An ascetic should always keep his soul blissful with the viewpoint of equality.
A sagacious ascetic should never be lethargic about the unique ultimate (the highest discipline).
An ascetic should always guard his soul and be vigorous and committed. Also, (he should) subsist on his spiritual path with limited food (quantitatively).
He should be detached towards all forms (of visible matter) big or small. ॐ शीतोष्णीय : तृतीय अध्ययन
