_ 'In Jaina tradition [3279] we have a different version of Sudraka's (or Sadayavatsa's) life, as a son of a king of Malva (in Ujjayini, Should Prabhuvatsa be Vikramaditya ? ) who marries Sātavāhana's daughter. Though banished (wrongly) and a gambler he is befriended by a goddess because of his self-sacrificing heroism and also by bandits in possession of the science, thus he succeeds in all his adventures, eventually becomes emperor and also wins the fortune of king Nanda. At last he meets the sage Kālika, keeps the 'accomplishment' and will attain release in a future life.'
