મિત્રાદષ્ટિ : ગુણીને અદ્વેષ, ઔચિત્યથી સર્વની સેવા
(૧૫૧) “હે છભ! તું પુણ્યશાળી જીવોનાં સુચરિત્રો ઉચારી પવિત્ર થા, સુપ્રસન્ન થા! બીજાની કીર્તાિ સાંભળવાનો રસ પામી મારા બંને કાનો આજે સુકર્ણ અર્થાત્ સફળ થાઓ ! અહો ! બીજાની ઉત્તમ લક્ષમી, બીજાનું ઐશ્વર્ય દેખી મારાં લોચને ઠરે, દ્રવો, એમાંથી હર્ષાશ્રુ આવો ! હે જીભ! હે કાન ! હે ચક્ષુ ! અસાર સંસારમાં આવી ભાવના એ જ તમારા જન્મનું પરમ સાર્થક છે.”

૩. ઔચિત્યથી સર્વત્ર અવિશેષપણે સેવન શાસ્ત્રમાં જે પ્રમાણે કહ્યું છે તે પ્રમાણે ઔચિત્યથી, ઉચિતપણાથી, જ્યાં જેમ ઘટે તેમ સેવા કરવી તે ત્રીજું લક્ષણ છે. “ઉચિતપણાને અનુસરવાથી અસંતૃપ્રવૃત્તિ દૂર થાય છે, ને સપ્રવૃત્તિમાં પ્રવર્તન થાય છે, તેથી કરીને ચોક્કસ કર્મક્ષય થાય છે.”X માટે જ આત્માથી હોય તે જ્યાં જ્યાં જે જે કરવું ઘટે છે, તે તે કરે, અને જ્યાં જ્યાં જે જે સમજવું ઘટે છે, તે તે સમજે.
“જ્યાં જ્યાં જે જે યોગ્ય છે, તિહાં સમજવું તે;
ત્યાં ત્યાં તે તે આચરે, આત્માથી જન એહ.”—શ્રી આત્મસિદ્ધિ અને તેમાં પણ અવિશેષથી-કઈ પણ જાતના ભેદભાવ વિના, સામાન્યપણે દીન-દુઃખી વગેરે સર્વ કોઈની પણ યથારોગ્ય સેવા કરવી, એ ઉચિત સેવા છે. અત્રે ઉચિતપણું, યથાયેગ્યપણું આમ સમજવું: મુનિ–સાચા સાધુગુણથી યુક્ત એવા સત્ પાત્ર પુરુષ પ્રત્યે જે સેવા કરવામાં આવે, ત્યાં ભક્તિભાવનું પ્રધાનપણું ઉચિત છે. દુઃખી, દીન, અપંગ વગેરે પ્રત્યે કંઈ સેવા કરવામાં આવે તેમાં અનુકંપા ભાવનું પ્રધાનપણું ઉચિત છે. * આ દીન-દુઃખી (મૂળ શ્લેક) * “સરવેy મૈત્રી કુળિg ઘઉં, દિપુ નીવેષ કૃપાપાä

3. Service to all without distinction, with propriety, as stated in the scriptures, is the third characteristic. "Following propriety removes dissatisfaction and promotes activity, thus leading to the destruction of karma."
