PREFACE
THE third volume of the Sangitaratnakara which is now being issued contains Books Five and Six dealing with Tala and Vadya. It follows the same plan as the two previous volumes. The next and last volume containing Book 7 dealing with Nrtta will complete the work.
This edition is based on the matter prepared by the late Pandit S. Subrahmanya Sastri. Sri K. Ramachandra Sarma, who worked under him in the preparation of the matter for the press, has corrected the proofs and passed the entire matter through the press, besides furnishing the detailed contents and the indexes. It is a great pleasure to record here the grateful thanks of the Adyar Library to Sri K. Ramachandra Sarma for his valuable work. Our indebtedness to the Vasanta Press for prompt and excellent execution is a continuous obligation.
