भावार्थ : जो साधक बड़ी मुश्किल से प्राप्त निर्मल (स्पष्ट या विस्तृत) आगम के अर्थ को किसी दुराग्रह से दूषित व्यक्ति को दे देता है, वह बाद में उसी तरह खेद पाता है, जैसे सैंकड़ों प्रयत्नों से प्राप्त बीज को ऊसर भूमि वाले खेत में बोने वाला पाता है ॥१६॥
शृणोति शास्त्राणि गुरोस्तदाज्ञां करोति नासद्ग्रहवान् कदाचित् । विवेचकत्वं मनुते त्वसारग्राही भुवि स्वस्य च चालनीवत् ॥१७॥
भावार्थ : कदाग्रही पुरुष कभी गुरु से शास्त्र - श्रवण नहीं करता, न कभी उनकी आज्ञा का पालन करता है । वह तो चालनी की तरह असार ( फेंकने लायक तुच्छ भूसे) को ही ग्रहण करता हुआ इस भूमण्डल पर अपने को विवेचक ( व्याख्याता) मानता है ||१७||
दम्भाय चातुर्यमघाय शास्त्रं प्रतारणाय प्रतिभापटुत्वम् गर्वाय धीरत्वमहो गुणानामसद्ग्रहस्थे विपरीतसृष्टिः ॥१८॥
भावार्थ : आश्चर्य है, कदाग्रही पुरुष के गुणों की कैसी विपरीत सृष्टि होती है ! उसकी चतुराई दम्भ के लिए होती है, उसका शास्त्राध्ययन भी पाप के लिए, उसकी प्रतिभापटुता दूसरों को ठगने के लिए और उसकी धीरता गर्व करने के लिए होती है ॥१८॥
असद्ग्रहस्थेन समं समन्तात् सौहार्दभृद् दुःखमवैति तादृक् । उपैति यादृक् कदली कुवृक्ष - स्फुटत्नुटत्कण्टककोटिकीर्णा ॥१९॥
