भावार्थ : धूर्त आदमी आत्मा, परलोक और विविध प्रकार की क्रियाएँ बता (कह) कर लोगों के चित्त को भोगादि से जोरशोर से भ्रष्ट करते हैं ॥१४॥ त्याज्यास्तन्नैहिकाः कामाः कार्या नानागतस्पृहाः । भस्मीभूतेषु भूतेषु वृथा प्रत्यागतिस्पृहा ॥१५॥
भावार्थ : इसलिए इस लोक के कामभोगों के सुखों को छोड़कर भविष्य (परलोक) के सुखों की इच्छा (स्पृहा) करना उचित नहीं है; क्योंकि पंचमहाभूतों के जलकर राख हो जाने पर पुनर्जन्म-फिर से लौटकर जन्म लेने की इच्छा व्यर्थ है ॥१५॥ तदेतद्दर्शन मिथ्या, जीवः प्रत्यक्ष एव यत् । गुणानां संशयादीनां प्रत्यक्षाणामभेदतः ॥१६॥
भावार्थ : इन-इन कारणों से यह (चार्वाक का) दर्शन मिथ्या है; क्योंकि प्रत्यक्ष संशयादि गुणों के अभेद के कारण जीव (आत्मा) प्रत्यक्ष ही है ॥१६॥ न चाहं प्रत्ययादीनां शरीरस्यैव धर्मता । नेत्रादिग्राह्यतापत्तेर्नियतं गौरवादिवत् ॥१७॥
भावार्थ : अहंकार आदि की प्रतीति तो शरीर का धर्म नहीं है। क्योंकि ऐसा हो, तब तो गुरुत्व आदि की तरह नेत्रादि इन्द्रियों की ग्राह्यता की आपत्ति अवश्य होनी चाहिए ॥१७।। १३८
