[ मनःशुद्धि] उचितमाचरणं शुभमिच्छतां प्रथमतो मनसः खलु शोधनम् । गदवतामकृते मलशोधने कमुपयोगमुपैतु रसायनम् ॥१॥
भावार्थ : अपना शुभ आचरण चाहने वाले पुरुषों के लिए सर्वप्रथम मन की शुद्धि करनी उचित है। क्योंकि रोगियों के मल की शुद्धि के बिना कौन-सा रसायन लाभदायक हो सकता है? परजने प्रसभं किमु रज्यति, द्विषति वा स्वमनो यदि निर्मलम् । विरहिणामरतेर्जगतो रतेरपि च का विकृतिविमले विधौ ॥२॥
भावार्थ : अगर तुम्हारा मन निर्मल हो तो दूसरे लोग तुम पर राग करें या द्वेष करें, उससे तुम्हारी क्या हानि है ? चन्द्रमा की किरणों को देखने से विरही जनों को अप्रीति होती है और जगत् के अन्य जीवों को प्रीति होती है, इससे निर्मल चन्द्र में क्या विकृति हो सकती है? रुचितमाकलयन्नुपस्थितं स्वमनसैव हि शोचति मानवः । उपनते स्मयमानसुखः पुनर्भवति तत्र परस्य किमुच्यताम् ?॥३॥
