Taifa (Sk. acue) see notes on Facts in St. 249. Sts 266, 267 are to be construed together. पउणं (Sk. प्रगुणं) has got the sense of 'लग्नं or engrossed in' here. St. 268. it is an indeclinable in Pk. used to denote conjecture or guess. fasui (Sk. Fagui) here has got the sense of 'carefully. ' St. 270. warszift (Sk. Paared). This is the usual conventional simile used by great poets like Shakespeare and others who compare the world to a stage or drama, in which men and women are the actors and actresses. Cf. the following lines from Shakespeare's 'As you like it' (Act II Sc. vii 11, 138, 139): - " All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players ". Sts. 271, 272. are to be construed together. असमंजसेन (Sk.) समंजस means 'good'; hence अस#ste means 'bad'. St. 276. fararegut ( Sk. Erda). It is a technical term in Jainism having the sense of
