________________ Notes 89 rough and brief knowledge of the same. उदयThe karma which we are actually experiencing at present is called उदयकर्म or उदय. उदीरणयारणा) It is thus defined : “अप्राप्तस्य (कर्मणः) प्रापणं उदीरणा." Hence the act of the entering of premature कर्मs into उदय (or उदयावलिका) by a sudden change into the अध्यवसायs or लेश्या of the soul is known as उदीरणा. Different from उदय and उदीरणा, there is सत्ता or सत्ताकर्म * which are the karmas which we have already accumulated previonsly (i. e. in previous life ) due to बंधकर्म. Thus उदय, उदीरणा and सत्ता together with siet are the four stages of Karma in Jainism. Their thorough and exact knowledge in brief can bu had from the following extract taken froin Muni Shree Jivavijaya's commentary (बालावबोध) on the Karmagranthas : मिथ्यात्वादिभिर्बधहेतुभिः अंजनचूर्णपूर्णसमुद्गकवनिरंतरं पुद्गलनिचिते लोके कर्मयोग्यवर्गणापुद्गलैरात्मनः क्षीरनीरवत् वह्नय यः पिंडवद्वा अन्योन्याऽनुगमाऽमेदात्मकः संबंधो बन्धः / तेषां च यथास्वस्थितिबद्धानां कर्मपुद्गलानां अपवर्तनादिकरणविशेषकृते स्वाभाविके वा स्थित्यपचये (क्षये ) सति उदयसमयप्राप्तानां विपाकवेदनं उदयः / तेषामेव कर्मपुद्गलानां अकालप्राप्तानां जीवसामर्थ्यविशेषादुदयावलिकायां प्रवेशनं उदीरणा 3 // तेषामेव कर्मपुद्गलानां बंधसंक्रमाभ्यां लब्ध्वात्मलाभानां निर्जरण: संक्रमणकृतस्वरूपप्रच्युत्यभावे सद्भावः सत्ता 4 / " Now
