19. Just opposite this land of S. No. 4663 is situate the old palace of Azam Khan where the head Post Office is at present located. Government are shortly going to remove the Post Office from that place and have also decided to hand over the building to the custody of the Ahmedabad Municipality for its Archaelogical museum. Government have also further promised to supply exhibits for the museum likely to encourage research in Gujarat. The location of society's Library and accomodation for scholars there on the plot in question will be very convenient and conducive to the study of the Archaology as well as Re-search work in Gujarat. A plan showing roughly the general nature of the buildings that the society will put up in case the land is granted is submitted herewith. The accompanying gives only the out-lines. I have no hesitation in stating with certainty that any structure that the society will put in the said land will be such as will maintain the balance of appearance of the site as a whole as well as a suitable match to the old palace opposite.
20. It is estimated that for all the extensions, additions and alterations the society will have to spend about Rs. 50,000/- exclusive of the cost of the land. A copy of the latest report of the Society is submitted herewith, from which it will appear that the Society has got sufficient funds of its own for the purpose. It has got an yearly income of about Rs. 15000/- and it can also raise funds by donations or even if need be, by debentures. The said copy will also give the details as regards the various private funds and the other activities shortly detailed above.
