CHAPTERV
1. The contents of the chapter necessitate the emendation; there seems to be & confusion between this line and the first line of the proceeding chapter.
2. A. B. F. तदुक्का कारणादादि; B. कारिणीदाडि । Between lines 1 and 2 B. reads : जप्ता मंत्रमिदं पश्चात्तापपरिग्रहैः सह । 5. (1) A. F. have प्रोक्ष्या before गवंत। (2) A. F. दांवपि for देवता प्रपि।
6. B. great, A. F. qafai The singular form of the verbs, it should be notiord, is not strictly grammatical.
7. I. विमोतेतुङ्ग, for विहिते कुम्भ, B. has only one word वच, but then sdds तक्षबपरिग्रहः सह।
8. (1) B. वापयेत्, A. नावये, F. नावयेत् । (2) B. शालि, F. सकन tor सर्व। (3) A. F. रूषितैः।
___9. A. F. सस्यात् पक्कफलादोनि निविडानिरवग्रहात् । I. J. पक्कफलानिविसा, which expression does not seem to give any sense whatever. B. प्रेक्ष्यतत् पल्लवानि निविडनिरग्रहां। पल्लवानि is thus suggested by B. and निविदानि by A.F. B. ____10. A. F. सवृषभान सर्वान सांश्वापि, I. J. योनृत्सवृषभात्संवत्सां, which is meaningless. The emendation follows B.
11. B. नासापूर्व। ___12. (1) A. F.संदृष्ट । (2) B. omits this line. A. C. F. read the 2nd pāda &s safa yagina'; I. J. saad.... Neither safa nor saad is known in dictionary as a Sanskrit word. 7 might keep up the metre, but afin would bear some sense ; but the meaning of this line as well as that of the preceding and the following is obscure. See notes under Translation.
13. (1) B. संप्रशस्थ, A. संवृस्थं, F. संवस्तं for the first pāda. (2) B. वसनैस्सर्वतिर्वति वतसरकमात. A. P. सफनैश्वपतितं सत्यवत्ततः for the second rida.
14. B. गोष्टीक, A. F. गोष्टगै। 15. (1) I. A. F. गोमन्थो रोमंदोग्धार, B. रामदोद्गार व्यलोकैः।
(2) B. गोष्टकै, A. F. शोपदे for गोष्पदैः।
