1 The name Chalukya or Chalukys does not occur in the inscription. * But the Kanarese part of the inscription is almost entirely illegible. * The original has Chalikya. • But Vikramaditya I. is described as the Maharajadhiraja Vikramaditya Satyasraya.
Dr. Fleet takes maha-saptama to denote one of the divisions of the seven Konkaņus; see his Dynasties, p. 372.
