Kalinga a powerful and independent kingdom 297—272 3.0.—Bindusara of Magadha. 272 B.C.-Accession of Asoka, and struggle between him and his brothers for the • throne. 268 B.C.-Anointing of Asoka. 260 B.C.-Asoka conquered Kalinga, and was converted. 256 B.O -Asoka's Kalinga edicts. He presents two caves in Barabar hills to the Ajivikas. 249 B.C.He presents another cave in the same hills to the same. 232 B.C. -Asoka died. Probably Kalinga freed under Megha king Cheta of Kosala 218 B.C.-Nanda of Kalioga excavated & canal with terminus in Tanasuliya Road. He also brought the Jaina image of Kalinga. Succeeded by Ketubhadra (208 B.C.). 184_48 B.O.-Pushyamitra Sunga of Rajagriha expelled Yavanas and Sakas, and ruled all North India as far west as the Indus. 194 B.C.-Khåravela (son of Jivadeva ?) born. 179 B.C.-Khâravela yuvarâja after studying or 9, 777, ETT, w, and prot: 170 B.C.-His father's death. Anointed king for a 4 . Repaired storm damaged Simhapura. His subjects counted 3,500,000. Accession of Sri Satakarqi, Andhra king. 169 B.C. -Disregarding Satakarņi, Khâravela sent an army to the west and burnt Môshikanagara on the Kaņhabena (Central Provinces). 167 B.C.-Khâravela subdues the Rashtrika and Bhojaka leaders. 166 B.C.He extended Nanda's canal into Simhapura. 165 B.C.-He performs Rajasůya, remits tax-money, and bestows privileges on civic and village corporations. 164 B.C.-His queen Dhusi of Vajra house (East Bundelkhand and South-West Bihar) bears a son. 163 B.C.-Stormed Gorathagiri (Barabar hills) and besieged Rajagriha. Its king retreats in haste to Mathura, abandoning his army. 162 B.C.-Grants gifts to Brahmans, and, to make the gifts accepted, lands to their assembly. 161 B.C.-After performing Vedio sacrifices, he sends a successful expedition to Bharatavarsha (the Gangetio valley).
